Exploring life after a pandemic & the current
and future environments for women’s safety

A project drawing upon the events and happenings of March 2021, in particular the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard. An event that brought women’s safety, or lack thereof, to the forefront of everyone’s minds, I felt compelled to create work that spoke to this and the reality of the everyday for women. Featuring objects used to help us stay safe; keys we hold in our hands, headphones we use to deter unwanted interactions, a text message to let people know we got home safe, women are forced to take responsibility for others’ actions. An eerily sterile room, and outside the window, a vision of protest, destruction & chaos, and the police not held to account.
